creating an environment of
respect and rapport
What is Component 2A?
Component 2A emphasizes creating a system that allows the classroom to run efficiently, and be effective, including causing the students to enjoy what they are learning.
Why is that important?
The classroom needs to be a safe place in which the student feels comfortable taking risks. In order for this to happen, the students and teachers must have learned how to interact well, and have a mutual respect.
What are the elements of Component 2A?
The first element of Component 2A pertains to teachers interactions with their students. Students must develop a trust and respect for the teacher. These things can only come about by the teacher showing true respect for the students, and a love for the material. Once these things are in place, the student and the teacher are set up for a successful relationship, in which the teacher helps and instructs, and the student provides information necessary to learn.
The second element of Component 2A mentions the importance of respect between the students and their peers. The students can help build a learning environment by encouraging and supporting their peers, and attempting to help them to learn as much as possible.
What are some artifacts showing it?
Artifacts of either of these elements would include the full demonstration of the qualities in the real world.
