Digital Newsletter
Description:
This digital newsletter was created using the website Smore. After setting up my account, I chose what style of flyer I wanted to create, then I selected a general aesthetic format. After that, I wrote down the content, added pictures, and published the newsletter. In order to have students or parents use the digital newsletter, I will send a Remind message, or something of that sort, with the link to the newsletter. The link should directly open the letter, from which point, the students and parents can read the newsletter, and follow any instructions in the letter itself.
This is an artifact of Component 3A because it is a relevant form of communicating with students. Students are able to quickly and conveniently open the content on any device, to bring up instructions, reminders, and material. This specifically falls under the element Use of Oral and Written Language, as the letter is written down for the students to continually access.
Reflection:
This website was easy to figure out, and the various design options were easy to use. The picture adding process was not as easy to figure out as it has been on other sites, and smore does not offer as many formatting possibilities for free as some other sites do. In the future i would also try to experiment with some of the other tools that were offered to add to the newsletter.
This tool ties into educational psychology by reaching out to various types of learners. A digital newsletter caters to people in different piaget stages, and explains topics to students and parents, using memorable text, styles, images, and background.
In my future classroom, i will use this tool to create newsletters for classroom procedures, project assignments and clarifications, study guides, class reviews, and other informational packets.
